Listen

The Burns family had a nice screened porch and back yard with an old, small, red-brick patio framed with old railroad ties, but it was falling apart, unappealing and an uninviting space. They wanted to create a larger space that had more presence and draw, where they and their children could entertain friends and have an outdoor fire.

Visualize

Bruce came up with several visualizations for the new patio, each designed to effectively bring the eye outwards to the beautiful hardwoods surrounding the property in the distance. The visualization the Burns approved had a rounded wall-feature that nicely contained the patio and gave it a powerful focal point for seating and the fireplace.

Build

Bruce built the entire patio by himself. From ordering and delivering the materials to laying the foundation of gravel and sand to laying down the bricks to settling the sand to building the new mahogany steps that led to the existing screened porch.

We could not be happier with the new patio Bruce designed and built for us. It’s like having a new room in our house. And our kids love having their friends over and building a fire. So do we!
— Will Burns
