Project Seven: Invigorating With Sunshine
Client: Cozza Residence, Wenham, MA

The owners enjoyed their finely detailed living room, and the outdoor patio, but were looking for middle ground space that would connect the two - an inside/outside space. In short, they wanted more sunshine. Natural light was the guiding driver for this design process, along with a year round connection to the exterior patio and natural environment of the back yard and beyond.

A high ceiling created a sense of a canopy above with light flooding through the room. The vision was to engage with the outside world from within the home.
Build
The structure required a large ridge beam to carry the weight of the roof system. No collar ties were interfering with the feeling of space. The fenestration (windows) were designed with visual interest and function, not simple blank panes of glass. Extra benefits…a large storage space below, and the elimination of a high maintenance wood deck.
